The Traditional Iftar Celebration
As every year, during the month of Ramadan, we held the traditional Iftar meal with the Kiryat Malachi and Rahat communities in partnership with the Achva Academic College.
Despite the height of a tense evening, during mass protests by all parts of Israeli society, we chose to meet face to face, to talk, get to know each other, acknowledge our differences, but most importantly – share what we have in common.
We gathered, 200 community members from Rahat and Kiryat Malachi, along with Tozeret Haaretz and Achva Academic College management members, the mayors of Kiryat Malachi and Rahat, the CEOs of the municipalities and the Young Adults Centers - we participated in fascinating round table discussions and enjoyed a festive Iftar meal in honor of Ramadan.
It was an amazing experience, and it was great to feel that despite everything that separates and divides us - we can find common ground, sit together around the same table, talk, connect, and learn from one another.
